Year 7 students have thrown their support behind Catholic Mission’s ‘Socktober’ fundraising campaign this year. Socktober raises funds for programs benefiting children around the world. Each year, Catholic Mission chooses a focus country to represent how the funds raised through Socktober will benefit children overseas. In 2024, their focus projects are in Mongolia.

At St Clare’s, students participated in a variety of activities in order to raise funds to help Mongolia’s vulnerable children. The final fundraising event was a mufti day on Friday the 25th of October, where all students were encouraged to wear silly socks. The result has been truly inspiring – in just over 3 months, students raised a staggering $5,829!

Our College was privileged to receive a visit from Br Andrew Than Le Phuong, along with representatives from Catholic Mission, who wished to personally thank our students for their incredible fundraising efforts. Br Andrew is the director of Don Bosco Caring Centre in Mongolia, and he was able to provide insights into the daily happenings of the children we are supporting.

Thank you to all who assisted and participated in Socktober. The funds raised will be vital in supporting the disadvantaged children in the Don Bosco Caring Centre. We sincerely congratulate Year 7 on their determination to lead by example and make a real impact in the world – this truly is the universal church in action!
