On Friday 23 August, St Clare’s College marked the Feast of St Clare with a full school Mass and a day of celebration.
St Clare is quite a remarkable saint who lived a life of humility and devotion. Her constant commitment in her love for the poor continues to inspire us and our actions at St Clare’s College today.
Clare was born in 1194 and was deeply influenced by St Francis of Assisi. Clare would go on to begin the Order of Poor Ladies, later known as the Poor Clares, a community dedicated to a life of poverty, simplicity and prayer. In her daily interactions with others, Clare was an amazing example of hope and faith that truly set her apart.
We honoured St Clare in Week 5 after the HSC Trials were completed. On a day that is very much looked forward to each year, we reminded all in our community how the virtues of St Clare can guide us in our daily lives. St Clare’s example encourages us to live with humility, to care for those in need and to trust in God’s plan. As we celebrated this feast day, we were inspired by St Clare whose deep faith and commitment showed us how to live out the Gospel with courage and compassion.
