In Term 1, Year 7 students enjoyed a 2-night camp adventure at the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber. This outdoor education program gives students a variety of learning experiences that are fun, challenging, diverse and memorable. Camp also provides an invaluable opportunity for students to get to know their new year group, making friends and bonding together as a cohort as they begin their high school journey together.
We asked Year 7 students to reflect on their camp experience……
Year 7 Camp – Leanne Wong
Camp was a huge highlight of the term; I was extremely fortunate that I got to stay in the same cabin as my friend group! My favourite activity was the Mud Run, where we had to do all sorts of activities in mud. I also enjoyed the Survivor Challenge, where all the Year 7 students in your House colour tried to get to the middle plank without falling off and getting muddy. The food was really good, my favourites were the chicken mac & cheese and the burger. We got snow cones twice a day and ice cream for dessert too! At night time, the leaders there read stories to us by the campfire. Overall I enjoy this experience so much; it is such a perfect time to meet new friends and get a stronger connection with classmates.
Year 7 Camp – Francisca Pena Silva
Year 7 Camp was more than I expected. When we arrived at the Great Aussie Bush Camp you could smell the fresh mountain air. The activities were so fun! Especially Treetops and The Giant Swing. My friends and I had a blast and when it got to the night activities it was more than I had hoped for. It was so much fun. I really enjoyed staying there and am very grateful for the hard work the teachers put into this event so that we could all have the best time.
