Lent is a season of grace, where the forty days in reflection can lead us to freedom, to fuller maturing, to permanent habits and commitments.

During Lent, Pope Francis has encouraged us to take an interior examination. It is the recognition of this challenge and struggle where through prayer, much like Jesus in the desert, we are best able ‘to pause like the Samaritan in the presence of a wounded brother or sister’. It is this contemplation that will rediscover and release new energies and hopefully contribute to the betterment of  the community.

Similarly to the reflection of Jesus in the desert, is the episode of the appeal to Moses in the desert. In the story of the burning bush, Moses asks the question ‘what do you want me to do?’

Statistics show that teens do better in school when they have purpose. During Lent, St Clare’s College students will be challenged to pause, stop and reflect – and simply ask ‘Lord, I am here, what do you want me to do?’

Our Student Leaders have shown a great sense of service and philanthropy in the lead-up to Lent, organising a range of Lenten fundraising activities. This program of events kicked off with our very successful Shrove Tuesday pancake sale, and more fundraising events are planned throughout Lent.

All funds raised will be donated to Project Compassion, which helps the disadvantaged worldwide.
