Isabella Vasiliou, Year 12, spent her recent school holidays pushing herself to the limit, undertaking a 260 km trek to raise funds for Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).

Isabella, joined by her father Stav, took on the Great North Walk, as a duo unsupported trek. A journey of two weeks, they ascended nearly the height of Mt Everest while carrying all of their food, water and camping equipment to sleep under the stars. Isabella notes that the experience was “extremely tough but incredibly rewarding.”

They tackled this challenge in order to raise vital funds for Medecins Sans Frontières Australia (Doctors Without Borders), which exists to save lives by providing medical aid where it is needed most – in armed conflicts, epidemics, famines and natural disasters. The money raised will go towards supporting the most vulnerable people in need, including those affected by the devastating Turkey and Syria earthquake.

Aiming to reach a fundraising goal of $10,000, Isabella is grateful to everyone for their generous donations. The fundraising page is still open and any contributions to reach their target would be greatly appreciated!  https://fundraise.msf.org.au/fundraisers/isabellavasiliou

As a College we are so proud of Isabella, and how she is living out the College’s 2023 theme of casting a stone and creating a ripple. Her philanthropic actions will certainly have a positive impact.
