Ally Hickman, Year 8 Snowboarding Star

Ally has had an incredible year on the slopes, culminating in fulfilling her dream of representing Australia at an Olympic level!

Ally began her year by completing the winter season in Whistler, Canada in an elite snowboarding program focusing on the Slopestyle event. This is the second year that Ally has spent time in Whistler training, preparing and participating in world class snowboarding events. Whilst training in Whistler full time, Ally also represented Australia in a number of events, placing 1st in her age category and making the podium in all events in the Open Division.

Most recently, Ally spent a month in New Zealand, where she was training and competed for the first time in the World Junior Championships. She was the youngest competitor, up against 40 girls aged 18 years and under from across the world, where she made the finals in both the Slopestyle and Big Air – placing an incredible 3rd in Slopestyle and 9th in Big Air!

Her amazing results earnt her accolades from Snow Australia as the first Australian medals in World Juniors since Tess Coady in 2017. Her performance in this event secured two spots for Australia in the Youth Olympics which will be in Korea in January – an incredible achievement!

We are all very proud of Ally and wish her the very best for the upcoming Youth Olympics.
