Congratulations to the St Clare’s College Waverley Class of 2022 on your outstanding HSC results! 

Our school was among the top 100 high schools, placing 74th in The Sydney Morning Herald rankings.

We also recorded 70 Distinguished Achievers, three All Rounders and one Top Achiever. 

St Clare’s Principal, Kerrie McDiarmid congratulated Year 12 students and staff on their exceptional efforts.

“The results reflect the dedication and hard work of the cohort and staff. The growth demonstrated by these students was impressive,” she said.

Ms McDiarmid acknowledged the college’s focus on growth as a significant contributor of success.

“These results reflect some of the most significant growth the College has seen. Our tracking data suggests that targeted interventions have had a significant impact on student performance.” 

System success 

Sydney Catholic Schools has achieved outstanding results in the 2022 HSC with nine of its 33 schools ranked among the top 100 high schools in NSW.

 A total of 17 schools ranked among the top 150 secondary schools, underlining Sydney Catholic Schools’ position as one of the top performing systems in Australia. 

Sydney Catholic Schools recorded an impressive 2630 Distinguished Achievers, 66 Top Achievers and 58 All Rounders.

Here’s a recap of our 2022 HSC highlights:

  • 70 Distinguished Achievers – lists the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses, not including results for courses studied external to their school
  • Three All Rounders – number of students scoring above 90 in at least 10 units – Matilda Groves (ATAR 98.35), Isabelle Matouk (ATAR 96.85), Ava Camillos (ATAR 96.45)
  • One Top Achiever – student(s) who achieved one of the highest places in an HSC course or VET examination and also achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4)
  • Our College Dux – Chloe Colman achieved an ATAR of 99.35, followed closely by Lara Burns ATAR of 98.8

  • 100% of 2 unit courses were above state average
  • Total courses above state average – 29/30 
  • HSC students received Band 6 – 32 of 77 (total of 66 Band 6 results)
  • Studies of Religion I – HSC mark was equal 6th in the state

  • We had accelerated students achieve outstanding results in Advanced Maths. The St Clare’s Year 9 student achieved the highest exam result for Advanced Maths at the College.
