Congratulations to Suki Waddel, Year 11, who received a prestigious Academic Achievement Award from The University of Sydney.
Each year, select schools are invited by The University of Sydney to nominate a deserving student from their Year 10 cohort to receive an award for academic achievement.
Suki is among a select cohort of students from across NSW to receive the Academic Excellence award, which is part of a scheme initiated by the University to acknowledge and encourage academic excellence. The awards allow the University to search for future talented students and inspire them to consider graduate studies at the University post-school.
Suki’s 2022 nomination resulted from her achievements across a number of subjects, and her participation in activities beyond the classroom. This includes her extensive extracurricular involvement, student leadership and community activities.
Dux of Year 10 in 2022, Suki achieved First in Course for Commerce, English, Geography, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, and Science. She also participated in representative basketball, softball, netball and oztag. Suki is interested in Debating, with a passion for the humanities including Modern History, Legal Studies and Economics, along with a keen interest in human rights. Suki has recently commenced Accelerated Maths, as well as the Notre Dame Certificate in Philosophy and Ethics. Suki is a co-developer of the Thriftr App, whose main goal is to inform users about sustainable clothes shopping through thrift stores and encourage them to move away from fast fashion.
She received her award at a recent University of Sydney ceremony. Suki has also been invited to participate in the Experience Sydney program, which gives access to events hosted by various faculties, schools and clubs of The University of Sydney.
Suki has now embarked upon her senior school years and continues to challenge herself academically. She has also assumed a leadership role, as leader of the newly created Hume House.
St Clare’s College congratulates Suki on this fantastic achievement – we can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
